Cause

Kavyamata — also called Usanas — is a minor character in Hinduism. She is described as a consort of wise Bhrigu, and the mother of Shukra, the god of the planet Venus and the preceptor of the Asuras or demons. She is the reason why god Vishnu was cursed to take Avatars on Earth.

Legend

Devi Bhagavata Purana discusses the legend. Once, the Asuras fought a war against the Devas, and their guru Shukra decided to seek the favour of the god Shiva to defeat the Devas. He started penance on Mount Kailash, Shiva's abode, leaving the Asuras unprotected. The Devas came to know of Shukra's intentions and waged a war on the Asuras again. The Asuras rushed to the Hermitage of Shukra, while being chased by Vishnu and the Devas. Males were not present at the hermitage, when asuras arrived. Shukra and his father were work. Kavyamata followed Atithi Dharm and gave protection to asuras for many months. The hermitage was covered by a protective invisible shield that was impossible to be penetrated even by Indra. Devas who arrived at hermitage requested the wife of Bhrigu to release asuras from hermitage, however, she refused and said that they were her atithis (guests). It is not rational to unprotect one's guests. With one glance Kavyamata put all the Devas into a deep sleep. By her meditative power, Kavyamata (Usanas) petrified Indra, the king of the Devas, putting them in a state of paralysis. Vishnu assessed the situation and surmised that he would have to break the armour of hermitage to protect the world from eons of chaos that would be ushered with the victory of the Asuras. Vishnu summoned his discus weapon — the Sudarshana chakra, and broke the protective shield / armour around the hermitage. While doing so, even Kavyamata's head got cut off who was protecting her guests.

Shukra's father, the great sage Bhrigu, became angry when he returned to his hermitage and cursed Vishnu for his sin of woman-slaughter, saying that Vishnu would have to take countless avatars on Earth and suffer pain and confinement due to his sin.

https://freeglobaluniversity.blogspot.com/search/label/Prison

Vishnu, who himself overseers that boons and curses come to pass, accepted this curse of the grieving sage. When Shukracharya comes to know about this incidence, he pledges to have war against devas and help asuras, as a revenge of Vishnu's deed with his mother.

Then Bhrigu resurrected Kavyamata (Usanas) by sprinkling holy water from his kamandalu (water-pot). Kavyamata woke as if from a deep sleep. The rest of the story remains the same in all versions.

In Ramayana

Although woman-slaughter is considered a sin in Hinduism, in the great epic Ramayana, the god Rama – an avatar of Vishnu – is convinced by his guru Vishvamitra that killing the demoness Taraka is right. To convince his pupil, the sage gives the example of Kavyamata who was plotting to "appropriate herself to the dominion of Indra" and was killed by Vishnu, implying that treacherous and wicked persons could be punished as per the duties (Dharma) of the king.

Jagadhri

Jagadhri, corrupted form of its old name Yugandhari, was named after the king of the Yugandharas. Yugandharas find mention in Mahabharata as well as Buddhist texts as region with warriors or mountains.

Yoga Vasistha

Rama asked:
Holy Sir, you said that Prahlada attained enlightenment by the grace of Lord Vishnu. If everything is achieved by self effort, why was he not able to attain enlightenment without Vishnu’s grace?

Vasistha replied:
Surely, whatever Prahlada attained was through self effort, O Rama, not otherwise. Vishnu is the self and the self is Vishnu: the distinction is verbal. It was the self of Prahlada that generated in itself devotion to Vishnu. Prahlada obtained from Vishnu, who was his own self, the boon of self inquiry; and through such enquiry attained self-knowledge. At times one attains self-knowledge through self enquiry undertaken through self-effort; at times this self-effort manifests as devotion to Vishnu who is also the self, and thus one attains enlightnment.

https://freeglobaluniversity.blogspot.com/search/label/Lion

Even if one worships Vishnu for a long time with great devotion, he does not bestow enlightenment on one who is not wise with self-knowledge. Thus, the foremost means for self-knowledge is self-enquiry; grace and such other factors are secondary means. Hence, attain mastery over the senses and by whole-souled spiritual practice lead the mind along the path of self-enquiry. Resort to self-effort and cross this ocean of world appearance and reach the other shore.

https://freeglobaluniversity.blogspot.com/search/label/Self

If you think that lord Vishnu can be seen without self-effort, why do the birds and beasts not get uplifted by him? If it is true that the guru can spiritually uplift one without the need for self-effort, then why does the guru not so uplift a camel or a bull. No, nothing whatsoever is gained with the help of god or guru or wealth or other means, but only by self-effort at a complete mastery of the mind. What cannot be attained by the resolute practice of self-mastery coupled with uncoloredness (freedom from every form of mental conditioning) cannot be attained by any other means in the three worlds.

https://freeglobaluniversity.blogspot.com/search/label/HumanAnimalBirdPlant

Hence, adore the self by the self, and be firmly established by the self in the self. The cult of devotion to Vishnu has been founded with the intention of possibly inducing those people who have turned away from the study of scriptures, from self effort and from self enquiry, to do something good. Determined and persistent self effort is considered the best: in its absence, other forms of worship are prescribed. If there is complete mastery of the senses, of what use is worship; and if there is no mastery of senses, of what use is worship? Without self-enquiry and the consequent inner tranquility, neither devotion to lord Vishnu nor self knowledge is possible. Hence, resort to self enquiry and the practice of cessation of distraction and thus adore the self: if you are successful in this, you have attained perfection; if not, you are no more than a wild donkey.

World Religons

In Srimad-Bhagavatam (10.46.31) it is said that Balarama and Krsna are the origin of all living entities and that these two personalities enter into everything.

https://harekrishnainfo.blogspot.com/search/label/RadhaKrishnaBalaramNarayanaVasudevaSankarshanaPradyumnaAniruddha

A list of incarnations is given in Srimad-Bhagavatam (1.3), and they are as follows:

(4) Matsya,
(5) Yajna,
(6) Nara-narayana,
(7) Kardami Kapila,
(8) Dattatreya - Hindu
(9) Hayasirsa,
(10) Hamsa,

(20) Raghavendra,Sikh
(21) VyasaPredict's  Judaism Christianity Islam
(23) Krsna,
(24) Buddha - Buddhist
(25) Kalki.

Because almost all of these twenty-five lila-avataras appear in one day of Brahma, which is called a kalpa, they are sometimes called kalpa or lila avataras.

Out of these, the incarnation of Hamsa and Mohini are not permanent, but Kapila, Dattatreya, Rsabha, Dhanvantari and Vyasa are five eternal forms, and they are more celebrated. The incarnations of the tortoise Kurma, the fish Matsya, Nara-narayana, Varaha, Hayasirsa, Prsnigarbha, and Balarama are considered to be incarnations of vaibhava.
